What Led the October 8-11, 2026 Sale
The Roman Anonymous Gold 60 Asses, after c.211 BC, NGC took the top of the board at $14,000, ahead of the 1907 High Relief $20 Gold Double Eagle, Uncirculated at $9,000 and the 1882-CC $20 Gold Double Eagle, NGC MS60 at $8,750. Gold carried 17 of the 20 top lots, which is typical of our sales. 8 of the leaders were third-party certified; the rest sold raw on the strength of the photographs and honest descriptions.
Consignment sales like this one are where the deepest bidding shows up, because the strongest coins pull registered bidders from every corner of the national market. The same reach works for a single coin as for a full collection. How these numbers come about is covered in our guide to how coin auctions work, and the coin grading guide explains the certified and raw grades used in the descriptions above.
